Lawnfawnatics Challenge #149 – Dies Only

Welcome back to my blog. Today we’re going to be looking at the latest Lawnfanatics challenge; create a project using mostly dies. The project should be made entirely from die cut pieces but a small sentiment can be stamped.

For this challenge I decided to use my favourite Lawn Fawn die – the platform pop-up. Released a year ago, the platform pop-up creates the most stunning cards that are quick and straight forward to make. Lawn Fawn have also released a number of add-ons for the platform pop-up that includes clouds and hillside wrap arounds and inserts. They can be used to create a variety of different looks, making this an incredibly versatile die.

Almost every platform pop-up card that I have made previously includes a number of stamped images so making one without any was definitely a challenge!

Using the cloud inserts and wrap around I created a dreamy card base by ink blending some ‘Shaded Lilac’ Distress Oxide onto turquoise ‘Spiffy Speckles’ paper. I added some splatters of silver pigment paint for added sparkle and shimmer.

For the rest of the elements I’ve listed below the cardstock that I used:

  • Rainbow – Shimmer cardstock: tropical & pastel
  • Rainbow Clouds – Pixie Dust cardstock
  • Stars – Pixie Dust cardstock
  • Sun – Shimmer cardstock: pastel
  • Butterfly – Pixie Dust & Metallic cardstock: hollographic
  • Castle – Shimmer cardstock: tropical & pastel

For some added details on the castle I used the LF brick stencil and ‘Worn Lipstick’ Distress oxide. Finally, for the sentiment I used the ‘Big Scripty Words Hot Foil Plates’ and some holographic hot foil.

While I made this card for the Lawnfawnatics challenge, I was also making it for my sons friend. At school they have been taking their SATS exams and his friend has been having a hard time with them. Taking exams at age 6 – 7 is a big deal so I thought a card full of sparkles would help, even if it was just a little bit. When I gave the card to her she was overjoyed with it and took it into school for show and tell! That’s one of the great things about card making – spreading happiness and smiles!

Have you entered the challenge yet? I can’t wait to see what everyone makes for this challenge!

Happy crafting everyone!
