A Beach Themed Birthday Card (with a surprise!)

Hello crafters and welcome back to my blog. Today I’m showcasing a beach themed birthday card with a hidden surprise inside!

Here in the UK the weather seems to have been miserable for so long that I’m constantly dreaming of summer and trips to the beach but as I can’t go the beach right now I thought I’d craft my own instead.

This card features predominantly Lawn Fawn products and I’ll list the supples I used at the end of the post.

I started by cutting a panel of blue cardstock for the sky (5.5 x 4.25 inch), another for the sand and a third for the water. All the paper is from the ‘Spiffy Speckles’ 6×6 paper pad. I trimmed the turquoise paper down with one of the dies from the ‘Stitched Simple Wavy Borders’ to create the ocean and trimmed down the yellow with the hill die from the ‘palm tree border’ set.

I cut the palm tree border from brown cardstock and added palm leaves in two different shades of green.

To decorate the beach scene I stamped a number of images from the ‘On the Beach’ and ‘Pool Party’ stamp set and coloured them with Copic markers in shades of pink and lilac. For some final details I added Stickles glitter glue to the umbrella, beach balls and flip flops.

I was going to leave the card like that but decided to add some details inside the card too. I cut two more panels from purple cardstock, cutting them down so that when adhered to the card base it would leave a white border. I then cut out and added a ‘pop-up happy birthday’, decorating each letter with alternating pink and purple paper letters die cut with the ‘Oliver’s stitched ABC’s’. The final finishing touches were some stamped images the coordinate with the scene on the front of the card, plus a birthday cake!
